New chair for Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa


Te Arawa post-settlement organisation Te Pumautanga o Te Arawa Trust has appointed business consultant Karen Tataiwhetu Vercoe of Ngati Pikiao as its new chair.
Te Pumautanga was set up to receive, hold and manage settlement assets negotiated on behalf of its 11 iwi and hapu affiliates from the Central North Island forestry settlement.
According to its 2014 annual report, it had $70 million in assets and group operating revenue of $11.4 million.
Ms Vercoe has represented New Zealand in women’s rugby and touch and run sports, not for profit and iwi organisations.
She’s was formerly the Maori health manager at government drug buying agency Pharmac, and has had consulting assignments with whanau ora collectives, health organisations and the National Hauora Coalition.
