NZ unionist seized off Gaza
The Kia Ora Gaza Trust has called on the Government to protest the boarding of a ship containing Unite Union leader Mike Treen and other international human rights activists.
Spokesperson Roger Fowler says the Al Awda, which was carrying medical supplies in an attempt to break Israel's illegal blockade of Gaza, was boarded by Israeli forces in international waters.
It's the latest such Freedom Flotilla to be stopped, with Green co-leader Marama Davidson having been detained bu Israel a 2016.
Mr Fowler says the flotilla poses no threat to Israel.
He called on the New Zealand Government to urgently alert its consular services to ensure the well-being and release of Mike Treen.
It should also demand the Israeli authorities ensure the safety and well-being of all those on board, and the speedy delivery of its gifts to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
