Sweet reward for Kaitaia whānau business
Kaitaia-based mānuka honey producer Tai Tokerau Honey has won the Taitokerau Māori Business of the Year award as well as an award from Northland Regional Council for excellence in environmental awareness and management.
Northland regional councillor Mike Finlayson says the company is a great example of how a business can add value to its local community.
The company strives to provide young locals with employment and work experience and uses local services and resources wherever possible.
Owners Lonnie and Rob Murray say honey is a gift and a blessing and they treat the bees and the land with the respect they deserve.
