Women engaged in the Māori commercial sector have gathered in Auckland today for the annual Huihuinga Wāhine organised by the Federation of Māori Authorities.

Federation chair Traci Houpapa says it’s a chance for Māori women chairs and chief executives, directors, trustees and governors to discuss economic and commercial matters of interest and importance to them as Māori women leaders.

She says women are still under-represented around the board tables of the Māori world, and the hui is a chance to address that.

it’s also a chance to be inspired by speakers like Dame Kahurangi Naida Glavish, Miriama Kamo, Georgina Beyer and Hinerangi Edwards.

There will be sessions on stepping away from government, social entrepreneurship and wahine on the sports field.
