Korako weighs in on Pike River politics

National's Maori affairs spokesperson and South Island-based list MP Nuk Korako is pouring cold water on the Government's pledge for a manned re-entry to the Pike River mine.
Mr Korako says the Government has wound back its promise as it now recognises it can't ignore health and safety laws.
He says its approach is coming closer to that of the previous Government, that safety is paramount,
"It's a shame Labour and New Zealand First have played politics with this issue and pretty much made promises it now appears it won't or it can't keep based around those health and safety issues," Mr Korako says.
He says the timeline seems to have stretched out to March 2019 before a possible manned reentry to see whether the bodies of the miners killed in the 2010 explosion.
