Davidson considers co-leader run
Green MP Marama Davidson says she never expected a ministerial position, but she's open to putting her name forward to be the party's co-leader.
The eight-member Green caucus was offered three ministries and one undersecretary role in exchange for giving confidence and supply to the new Labour-led Government.
Despite only entering parliament a year and a half ago, Ms Davidson is at number two on the Greens' list because of support from the membership and the departure of Metiria Turei
She says the Greens made the decision of who should be ministers based on the portfolios offered by presumptive prime minister Jacinda Ardern.
"And of course they have an incredibly strong Maori caucus who have got the portfolios I would have been aligned to such as Maori development as well as all my housing portfolios, they have definitely held o|n to those, as well as the Pacific peoples and human rights portfolios, so it was sort of to be expected," Ms Davidson says.
She say if her supporters think her standing for co-leader will help Maori aspirations, she will consider it.
The policy agreements between the parties and the ministerial portfolios will be announced over the next couple of days, with the new Government being sworn in on Thursday.
