Boxing event nothing more than a recruitment drive says Jones

New Zealand First candidate for the seat of Whangarei, Shane Jones has come out fighting against a boxing event organised by gangs including Black Power, Mongrel Mob and Head Hunters.
The event which took place in Whangarei in the weekend was an organised bout between the gangs and leaders hope it'll be an annual fixture.
But Shane Jones says it's a type of criminal tourism adding that they're nothing more than recruitment drives.
"I don't think it's a flash look for Whangarei and us up here. I fear it's a recruitment drive. I've been criticised by a number of our whanau for being excessively negative, about what they think is a positive event. But this is what I would say, of the men who were killed and murdered this year, none of them died in the boxing ring, they all died as a consequence of the P trade which flourishes within the gang scene", says Shane Jones.
