Vision and courage needed in top Maori TV role

Courage and vision are what Mana leader Hone Harawira wants to see at the helm of Maori Television.
The service is advertising for a new chief executive to replace Paora Maxwell, who steps down in August.
Mr Harawira says it needs to be someone who can maximise the value of Maori Televsion not just for Maoridom but for the nation.
"You can surround that person with the right kind of technicians, financial wizards, programming support, but the person at the top needs to be someone who can carry the organisation forward with vision and courage," he says.
The models he thinks of are Kara Puketapu shaking up the Department of Maori Affairs in the 1980s, or Taura Eruera and Vivien Bridgewater with the launch of Mai FM.
