No guarantees but Davis sure list will deliver for Maori

Labour MP Kelvin Davis says he's confident Maori will figure highly on the party list.
Regional conferences are being held to give an indication about what members feel about the various candidates, and the final list will be ut together by the party's national council acting as the moderating committee.
The six MPs who hold Maori seats have been allowed to stay off the list, which could allow other Maori candidates to be ranked higher.
Mr Davis says the process includes equity steps to ensure the list is representative of New Zealand society.
"So every couple of places they stop and say have we got enough women, have we got enough men, have we got enough Maori, have we got enough ethnic people so it is probably as fair as you can get but in terms of cast iron guarantees someone is going to go at number one or two on the list, I don't have the ability to make those guarantees, The party has a process to go through," he says.
The Auckland region list conference will be held this Saturday, where Willow Jean Prime, Shanan Halbert and Willie Jackson will make their cases for a high list position.
