Peters says Kings advisors undermining his office

New Zealand First Winston Peters says King Tuheitia’s advisors are undermining his office by getting him to endorse the Maori Party’s Hauraki Waikato candidate.
The King last week told supporters to vote for Waikato Tainui executive chair Rahui Papa, and at the same time wrote off his cousin and incumbent MP Nanaia Mahuta, saying she no longer had mana in parliament.
Mr Peters says there is no way King Tuheitia’s mother Te Atairangikaahu would have been persuaded to endorse a political party or candidate.
He blames the king’s former advisor, Maori Party president Tukoroirangi Morgan.
The pair have been at odds since Mr Morgan quit the New Zealand First caucus to form his own Mauri Pacific Party before losing his seat to Ms Mahuta in the 199 election.
Labour leader Andrew Little has also come out firing against the Maori king, also blaming Mr Morgan and saying his comments were an abuse of his office.
