Greens increase Maori seat profile
Co-leader Metiria Turei, who is standing with Te Tai Tonga, says so far they have confirmed sitting list MP Marama Davidson again for Tamaki Makaurau, Jack McDonald for a third run in Te Tai Hauauru, Godfrey Rudolf in Te Taitokerau and Elizabeth Kerekere in Ikaroa Rawhiti
"It’s really cool to be part of this quite big team of Maori candidates in Maori seats and on top of that our list ranking processes are happening at the moment too so we are having a lot of Maori and Pacific candidates coming through as well so it is going to be much more diverse and much stronger in Maori representation, which is really exciting," she says.
The Greens have also confirmed Denise Roche will stand again in Auckland Central, fending off a challenge from youthful candidate Chloe Swarbrick.
Meanwhile Labour chooses its candidate for Auckland Central tonight, with Te Wananga o Aotearoa staffer Shanan Halbert, the runner up in the Maungakiekie selection, up against lawyer Helen White.
