Waitangi@Waititi gets mayoral tick
Auckland mayor Phil Goff has confirmed he will attend Waitangi Day celebrations at Hoani Waititi Marae.
Te Whanau o Waipareira chair Ray Hall says the new mayor is continuing the support from the Auckland council for what has become a significant annual west Auckland event.
Veteran Uk reggae band Black Slate is headlining the free concert, alongside top New Zealand acts Katchafire, Rob Ruha and Aaradhana.
Others on the bill include The Royal Family Dance crew, Kings. Moana & The Tribe, Ray Bishop, ABBIE, Maaka, IHI and the Freshman’s Dance Crew.
Mr Hall says there's something for youth, parents and kaumatua at the smoke free, alcohol free, drug free, violence free event..
The fourth Waitangi@Waititi is backed by The Trusts Community Foundation, Ministry of Culture & Heritage, and the Whau/Waitakere and Henderson-Massey Local Boards.
