Morgan out of his depth at Ratana

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says there's no way he was going to accept political opportunist Gareth Morgan calling him an Uncle Tom.
The economist turned up to Ratana yesterday to fly a lone flag for his new Opportunities Party and implored the Ratana members to call out the veteran MP for his anti-Treaty of Waitangi views.
Mr Peters says it was a tacky attack made during a long, turgid speech read.
"This is in acceptance of the welcome by the Ratana leadership so he showed himself totally out of his depth but if he thought he was going to go along there and defame me and say things that were absolutely disgraceful and get away with it he had news and that news for him was going to be all bad so he got absolutely done over as he should have. Nobody at Ratana would expect that to happen and the least they would expect is for me to sit there and accept it," he says.
Mr Peters says he has been going to Ratana for four decades to acknowledge and celebrate the birthday of its extraordinary and visionary leader, Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana, and the impact he made on New Zealand politics.
