YMCA head on youth think tank
Acting Youth Minister Anne Tolley has appointed Arama Ngapo-Lipscombe as the Maori community representative on the Partnership Fund Board.
The board is supposed to encourage new partnerships between the government and philanthropic and business partners to increase youth development opportunities.
Despite the high percentage of youth who are rangatahi Maori, she is the only Maori on the nine-member board.
Ms Ngapo-Lipscombe is a Tokoroa-based family lawyer who is currently acting chief executive of YMCA New Zealand.
She’s of Marutuahu, Ngati Tamatera, Ngati Pukenga and Ngati Porou ki Harataunga descent.
PwC partner Karen Shires has been elected chair of the board for an 18 month term.
Ms Tolley says the board’s role is to draw on their expertise and networks to generate new ideas and forge new partnerships to grow youth development opportunities.
