NUMA disappointed government continues to underinvest in keeping whanau out of prison.

The National Urban Maori Authority CEO, Lance Norman says "we are disappointed the Government is continually underinvesting in preventative initiatives that keep our Whānau out of prison and now they are having to invest $2.5 billion of funding to keep Whānau in prison".
The comments follow an announcement by the government that a growing prison population will cost them an extra $2.5bn over almost 5years which will impact on other services.
