Ministry boosts Duffy Books giveaway

It's not only Maori language week but government book week.
That's when the government contribution is made to the Duffy Books in Homes programme.
Education Minister Hekia Parata says each student at the 500 schools in the programme receives five free books of their choice every year, with one of the books funded by the education ministry.
She says this week about 90,000 New Zealand children will receive a free book to take home and keep.
She says it's a great way to inspire a love of books in children and improve literacy skills, which are essential for success in every aspect of life.
