Reggae stars play for homeless
The singer for Sons of Zion says a visit to Te Puea Marae has got the band all fired up ahead of next month's benefit concert for the homeless.
Sons of Zion will join Three Houses Down, Tomorrow People, Che Fu, Pieter T and Swiss for the Music is Love benefit at the Studio on Karangahape Rd on July 14.
Rio Panapa says the idea was sparked by a John Campbell story about a young girl who had been living in a van with her parents and five siblings.
"I actually went down to Te Puea yesterday and met her family and it is pretty heartbreaking stuff and I am happy we can give some hope and put some funds together to help our whanau at Te Puea who are looking after our most needy families," he says.
The Music is Love benefit at the Studio on Karangahape Rd on July 14, tickets $55.
