Winston Peters is challenging Maori leaders to swing behind his latest campaign against unrestricted immigration.

Mr Peters says he sees people coming in who care nothing for New Zealand’s principles of freedom and equality, especially when it comes to women.

He says mass immigration is a game Maori can’t win.

"Yes if we've got a contest for housing, guess who's going to miss out, if we have a contest for educational dollars to train young people, guess who's going to miss out. That's my point you see that they're poor to represent Maori. In many ways they've long forgotten poverty, the loss of opportunity and the level of unemployment that's going on in so many Maori communities", says Mr Peters.
