Ngati Kahungunu’s hopes of having fewer councils to deal with have been dashed by the voters of Hawke’s Bay.

They voted two to one against a plan to merge Wairoa, Napier, Hastings, Central Hawke's Bay and the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council

Ngati Kahungunu Inc had endorsed the plan.
