Mayor says Auckland loves the regions

Auckland Mayor Len Brown wants to spread the love.
Mr Brown says the city supports the government's idea of giving preference to immigrants to settle in areas of the country other than Auckland as a way of easing housing pressure.
He says everyone in Auckland is focused on spreading the love and the new immigrants will help set up new businesses, create jobs and it will be good for the areas they move into.
Mr Brown says he doesn't however want immigrants to think they aren't loved in Auckland.
He says at present half the 27,000 new immigrants to Aotearoa each year come to Auckland.
Other regions including those with high Maori populations would benefit from the economic growth that immigrants bring.
