Terror raid anniversary marked

It’s the sixth anniversary of the raid by armed police of Ruatoki looking for alleged terrorists, and the people whose lives were affected intend to commemorate it.
More than 300 police carried out the dawn raids in centres around the country in what they said was a response to concrete terrorist threats from Maori activists.
Twenty people were arrested, but charges were scaled back or dropped against most defendants.
Tame Iti and Te Rangikaiwhiria Kemara are out on parole after serving prison sentences on weapons charges, and Emily Bailey and Urs Signer have almost complete home detention for similar charges.
To mark the anniversary, there will be speakers and a concert at Auckland University tomorrow, Wednesday October 16, and a similar event in Wellington on Friday.
