Maxwell moves on MP’s slur

Broadcaster Paora Maxwell is seeking to correct the parliamentary record over attacks by Dunedin North MP Clare Curran.
In September Labour’s then communications spokesperson used parliamentary privilege to allege that Maori Television chair Georgina Te Heuheu intervened to have Mr Maxwell on the shortlist for the company's chief executive spot, despite him being ruled out by the recruitment company preparing the list.
Under parliament’s rules, people named in parliament can apply to the speaker if they feel information about them was untrue.
Mr Maxwell’s Rotorua iwi has also called for Ms Curran’s resignation.
Te Maru o Ngati Rangiwewehi chair Te Rangikaheke Bidois says she has no credibility and her actions were extremely distasteful.
