Principal found for Pamapuria

A troubled far north school has appointed a principal to lead it through the next stage of its recovery.
Pamapuria School near Kaitaia has been run by a commissioner since February when principal Steven Hovell was stood down over his handling of allegations against former deputy principal James Parker.
Parker was last month jailed for 74 charged of sexual offending against boys in his charge.
From next year the school will be run by 33-year old Rikki Horlock, who is currently deputy principal at Maketu School in the Bay of Plenty.
Mr Horlock says he has the skills to help the school move forward, including reasonable fluency in te reo Maori.
