Cash secures Maori art promotion effort
Toi Maori Aotearoa has been granted $2.3 million over the next three years in baseline funding in Creative New Zealand’s latest multi-year arts investment programme.
The money will give the Maori arts promotion body more security in its activities, which have increasingly involved creating international relationships and markets for Maori artists and craftspeople.
Taki Rua Theatre has also benefited from the Toi Totara Haemata arts leadership programme, getting $1.3 million over three years.
In the Toi Uru Kahikatea art development programme, Atamira Dance Company got $665,000 over two years and Kahurangi New Zealand Maori Dance Trust got $580,000.
In all $19.5 million was committed to the arts in the two funding streams.
