Kura rebellion against standards testing
Almost half of the schools that teach in te reo Māori are rejecting the Māori version of national standards, Ngā Whanaketanga Rūmaki Māori.
A Ministry of Education report says 81 of the 198 kura kaupapa and bilingual schools have told the ministry they have either political or capability issues with handing over the data.
NZEI president Judith Nowotarski says the action could have repercussions.
Last year Education Minister Hekia Parata appointed a limited statutory to Porirua School after it refused release standards data
Christchurch's Tamariki special character school says it has been warned it could meet a similar fate for refusing to report its national standards data.
