Group to encourage smokefree whānau

Meanwhile, Māori anti-smoking group Hapai Te Hauora Tapui and Action on Smoking and Health have launched the new Maori Tobacco Control Leadership Service.
Hapai Chief Executive Lance Norman says the service aims to reduce tobacco related harm inequalities for Māori.
He says it will focus on supporting whole whānau to be auahi kore or smokefree, because that makes it less likely children will pick up the habit, and babies will be able to breathe fresh air.
Mr Norman says World Smokefree Day is a chance for whānau to give quitting a go, but it can take several attempts so people shouldn't feel like they have failed if they don't keep off the weed.
