Unleashed racism bad for Maori
First they came for the Muslims, next they target Māori.
That’s the warning from Labour’s Māori spokesperson Parekura Horomia response to New Zealand First MP Richard Prosser’s Investigate magazine column saying Muslims were women-hating troglodytes from Wogistan who should be barred from flying on western airlines.
The comments have provoked indignation around the world, but Mr Horomia says the danger is the licence it gives racists in New Zealand to hear an MP saying such things.
“What concerns me is when people starts making those statements and yet you have some support. You wonder what some people quietly say about own tangata whenua and that”. says Parekura Horomia.
