Starpath leads to Wisconsin for Māori researcher
An Auckland University scholar is to compare her research on education pathways for Māori and Pasifika students with similar studied being done in North America.
Melinda Webber from Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Kahu, Ngāti Hau is about to travel to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on a Fulbright-Ngā Pae o te Maramatanga award.
Dr Webber has been working on Starpath, which looks at the way under-achieving secondary school students can give themselves a chance to do tertiary study.
Green Bay has a similar project called Phuture Phoenix.
She is also working on Ngā Pae ō te Maramatanga’s Ka Awatea research project on what constitutes Maori student success.
