Future maker’s website aims to inspire
Role models joined Māori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples at Te Kura Māori ō Ngā Tapuwae in Mangere today to launch a new web site that encourages Māori to seek higher education and training.
Moana Maniapoto, who helped put the Māori Future Makers site together, says the 30 high achievers profiled range from entrepreneurs and engineers to neurobiologists and nanoscientists.
Not all of them went down the conventional path of seeking knowledge through higher degrees.
“Others are drop outs. They’ve committed to a lifetime of learning through mentors and working their way up from being the apprentice to owning a company. Some people have also earned their degree’s later on in life. We’re really showing that there are a number of pathways for people to follow their dreams and that’s what it’s about. says Moana Maniapoto.
Moana Maniapoto says it’s been an inspiring project to work on, as everyone profiled brings real passion to what they do.
