Handover plan for mental health programme
Ngāti Koata has a big task on its hands running what is suddenly one of the biggest Māori health providers in the top of the South Island.
Hauora ō Ngāti Koata, supported by Te Hauora ō Te Awhina, will be the lead provider of kaupapa Māori mental health services previously done by Te Rapuora ō Te Waiharakeke, which is being shut down because of financial problems.
Te Rapuora had 128 mental health clients, and had expanded into other health services which will be run by Maata Waka Ki Te Tau Ihu Trust and Te Hauora ō Ngāti Rarua.
Harold Wereta says working with the board to have clients handed over by 1st of January, but there is no guarantee staff will be carried over.
