Massey University Maori Development lecturer Veronica Tawhai is this year’s winner of the Nga Pae o Te Maramatanga Fulbright Scholarship to study in the United States.
Ms Tawhai will spend three months at the Centre for World Indigenous Studies in Washington.
She will continue her doctoral studies, as well as work on establishing global indigenous political educators’ network.
Ms Tawhai says countries like New Zealand which underwent a period of colonisation need a new sort of citizenship education.
