Ngāti Kahungunu members have turned out to see the historic Tautane Station bought by their iwi last month.
Ahuriri Houkamau from Rongomaraeroa Marae in nearby Porangahau says visitors at the open day heard from speakers from the iwi, the Herrick family who farmed the 3680 hectare sheep and cattle station for 111 years, and Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre, which has taken the lease.
Taratahi will use the farm to train managers and agri-scientists.
