Coalition parties slip in latest poll
The latest One News-Varian poll puts Te Pāti Māori in the driver’s seat to decide the next government if an election was held tomorrow.
The party’s support is steady at 4 percent, while Labour is up two points to 30 percent and the Greens are up also two to 14 percent – giving the three parties a total of 64 seats if they agree to combine.
National dropped two points from February’s poll to 36 percent, and ACT was down a point to 7 percent.
New Zealand First also dropped 2 points to 4 percent, which would mean it’s out of parliament unless it can win an electorate.
Christopher Luxon is still most preferred Prime Minister at 23 percent, down two points, and Chris Hipkins is up a point to 16 percent.
New Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick is on 6 percent, up two points. David Seymour is down one point to 5 percent, and Winston Peters is down two points to 4 percent.
