NZ spying on our pacific whanau

The latest revelations that New Zealand is scooping up all the electronic communications around the Pacific and handing them straight over to the American's should be the only thing NZ is talking about right now.
It isn't.
X Factor and selfish spoilt pop stars with ego's for haircuts are the main focus.
Key must be thanking his lucky stars for such distractions because news that we are spying on our Pacific whanau demands hard answers he doesn't want to give.
The lies and smears Key and his Government have dumped upon any Journalist exposing the might of us being in the 5 Eyes club will be something for future historians to critique because the present day NZ voter still doesn't seem to want to be critical of Key.
It's like all that animosity thrown at Kim Dotcom has left NZ voters totally immune to being told the truth of what our Government is really doing with mass spying powers. The irony of course is that if it was Helen Clark who had passed laws allowing the US to mass spy on NZers and the Pacific, those very same voters would be screaming 'Nanny State'.
Such is the double standards of NZ politics.
Of course we should use these spying powers to prevent terror attacks aimed at us, but as Edward Snowden and Nicky Hager have proved, these powers aren't being used to do that, they are being used to indiscriminately spy on all our Pacific whanau including corruption whistle-blowers and civilian Governments and hand all that information to America.
NZers did not spill blood on foreign shores so that we could one day be the USA's nark in the South Pacific.
