A stir over having 3 of the Labour Party women sit at the front of the taumata at Te Tii Marae caused some upset at Waitangi commemorations.
Labour Party stalwart and Te Kotahitanga O Nga Hapu Ngapuhi co chair Rudy Taylor says he rang Ngapuhi kaumatua Dick Dargaville to seek consent for Annette King to be seated on the front of the taumata.
Rudy Taylor says there is questioning all the time over consistencies and inconsistencies of the marae.
He says Maoridom is a unique culture.
