Covid-19 cases grow as system gears up for pandemic
The Ministry of Health today announced eight new cases of Covid-19, all related to overseas travel.
This brings a total of 20 confirmed cases in New Zealand.
Chief executive Ashley Bloomfield says while the border restrictions brought in at the weekend were not retrospective, travellers who arrived earlier may wish to voluntarily self-isolate, and anyone who has been overseas recently and is feeling unwell should self-isolate and should contact Healthline or phone ahead to their GP.
The government has also brought forward the start of the influenza campaign, in a bid to reduce strain on the health system.
