Doorknocking could be off-limits for parliamentary candidates in light of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
National’s Māori development spokesperson, Jo Hayes, says she is ramping up her campaign for the seat of Mana, including shifting her office from Christchurch to Porirua.
But the campaign is likely to take a different form in the lead up to September 19.
"The Prime Minister said any gatherings of over 500 people are to be cancelled. We're very aware of door-knocking and meeting people on the streets and so on, so I've prepared my volunteers for a telephone campaign," Ms Hayes says.
She says at least six MPs are now self-isolating, and National is supporting the Government’s pandemic response.
