Peters trash talking says Henare
Labour MP Peeni Henare says the party won’t back down from its support for Māori.
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters used a state of the nation speech in Palmerston North yesterday to say Labour left a broken economy, a fractured society, and a country on a road to social disaster.
He described co-governance – which was a National party innovation – as something out of Nazi Germany
Mr Henare says he’s proud of Labour’s record, including its support for Māori led initiatives like Te Aka Whai Ora, the Māori Health Authority.
“We lost because of a cost of living crisis, rising inflation, a whole heap of matters but the finger, the blame at the Māori caucus or Māori-led initiatives as the reason for losing the election last year is absolute garbage,” he says.
