Thought leaders sought for kotahitanga hui
Ngāti Kahungunu Incorporated chair Bayden Barber says a hui taumata is a chance to define the structures Māoridom needs in the 21st century.
The iwi is hosting the hui at Omahu Marae near Heretaunga on May 31.
Mr Barber says the number of people who turned out for hui at Ratana, Turangawaewae and Waitangi this year shows Māori unifying against the policies of the coalition Government.
“There’s only one take and that’s kotahitanga so we’re asking thought leaders from around the motu to come and put their whakairo down on how we can actually make it happen,” Mr Barber says.
Ngati Kahungunu has called for discussion papers to be put forward before the hui.
