Kill Seymour bill now says Greens
Green MP Teanau Tuiono says if the Prime Minister is genuine in saying that National won’t support changes to the Treaty of Waitangi, he should kill ACT leader David Seymour’s treaty principles bill now.
He says allowing the Bill to go to a select committee will encourage the proliferation of extremist views and anti-Maori sentiment.
“That’s what David Seymour wants. That’s what the ACT Party wants – to cause this massive division between Māori and the folks that are voting for them. It’s all very good and well for them to say that but actually kill this bill now,” Mr Tuiono says.
He says pushing the Bill through its first reading with no guarantee of further support is a massive waste of time, energy and money.
