In December, an archive of 5,300 images of tangata whenua, independently valued at $340,000, were repatriated into public ownership after a deal between its foreign owner and the National Library of NZ.
The archive includes important images of multiple key figures in Maoridom.
Atereano spoke to Daniel Miller, owner and director of Duncan Miller Gallery who owned the images and is the managing director of the Fairfax Archives group who are returning the pictures.
