Luxon no duce says Bishop
National Party campaign chair Chris Bishop is crying foul over newspaper ads and billboards featuring leader Chris Luxon in a Mussolini-type grimace.
The ads by the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions says Mr Luxon is ‘Out of Touch. Too much risk,’ and link to a website outoftouch.nz.
Mr Bishop say it’s the most negative campaign in history and more in line with American-style attack ads.
“The New Zealand people deserve a better quality election campaign. Unfortunately it looks like Labour and the CTU have decided to go very low because they’ve got nothing. They’ve got no track record to defend. All they can do is attack Christopher Luxon personally and make up lies about National Party policy,” he says.
Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, known to his followers as il Duce or the leader, was the architect of modern fascism and was recognisable for his shave head and pugnacious stance.
