Twelve years after winning Māori Television’s Homai Te Pakipaki talent question, Chad “The Boogieman” Chambers has released his debut album.
Nāti Shores, a celebration of his homeland, includes eight songs in English and te reo Maori, and the reggae singer says it’s a way of showing gratitude to those who have supported him over the years.
There’s also a homage to his home town Waima – the one near Tokomaru Bay.
“I know there’s plenty more Waima hurinoa e tenei motu. There’s one up north and there’s also one down in Kahungunu, they’re nearly as beautiful as my home town, but let overone know how beuitiful my home town is really,” Chambers says.
