Mangere flood clean up long task

One of the organisers of the Mangere emergency response centre at the Mangere War Memorial Hall says it’s shaping up tobe a long process.
Harriet Pauga, a health lead at Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, says they’ve been blown away by the amount of people offering to help.
She says many hands are needed to clear away the flood damage and make homes liveable again.
“As well the aftermath of that is that some of our families are living in state houses who don’t have contents insurance so there is no way to get for example the couches or the bedding or the beds they need,”Ms Pauga says.
The centre will be open at Mangere until Sunday, but the team is working with government agencies and other services to set up long term support.
