Healthy homes delay betrayal of poor

Māori Party co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer has slammed a delay in mandating healthy homes standards.
Housing Minister Megan Woods says because of Covid-19 supply chain disruptions she has expended the deadline for getting rental properties up, to scratch until July next year for Kainga Ora and July 2024 for private landlords.
Ms Ngarewa-Packer says it’s a broken promise.
“Once again the Government shown it doesn’t have a commitment to assisting those of our whānau that are in poverty that are living in very poor homes. This should have been the opportunity for them to put forward the footprint they said they would do in making change in poverty for children. We’re disappointed they’ve done an about turn on it,” Ms Ngarewa-Packer says.
