Maori to fore in rugby final

Sports commentator Ken Laban says Saturday’s Blues-Highlanders final was not just a celebration of rugby but a chance to put Māori culture and language to the fore.
He says there was a strong Māori feel to the event, with the head coaches of both teams being Māori – Leon McDonald for the winning Blues and Tony Brown for the Highlanders – as are the Highlanders co-captains Ash Dixon and Aaron Smith.
"Their haka and the light they shine on tikanga and te reo, Otere Black's mihi whakatau on air post game always speaks of such class and dignity win or lose, and we saw another example of that on the weekend," Mr Ken Laban
