Injunction threat lifted over use of whanau ora name

The director of South Auckland’s Whanau Ora Community Clinic, George Ngatai, says the North Island Whanua Ora Commissioning Agency has dropped its injunction application over the use of the whanau ora name and paid costs.
The director of South Auckland’s Whanau Ora Community Clinic, George Ngatai, says the North Island Whanau Ora Commissioning Agency has dropped its injunction application over the use of the whanau ora name and paid costs.
The injunction application was due to be heard in the High Court in Wellington next month.
Mr Ngatai says he always thought it was misconceived to try to prevent his organisation using the whanau ora name in connection with its work in healthcare.
He says no one organisation or even an individual can own a kaupapa like whānau ora.
