Code shares Whanau Ora principles
The North Island Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency is offering providers guidelines on how to operate in a kaupapa Māori way.
It launched a best practice competency framework today at its first in-person conference in four years, which is being held at te Puia in Rotorua.
Chair Merepeka Raukawa Tait says the way providers work and behave should distinguish them from other organisations.
“Kiri Waititi has put together a framework so that everyone can see, this is how we do it, this is what sets us apart, this is how we consult, this is how we inculcate tikanga Maori into everything we do,” she says.
Ms Raukawa Tait says Whanau Ora means a lot of what Maori communities have always done can now get funded, but the putea still does not acknowledge the amount of work being done.
