Peters aims for Opposition benches

Winston Peters says he won’t join Labour on the Government benches if his party gets back to parliament.
The New Zealand First leader flagged the party’s intention to run again in a speech earlier this month which took aim at co-governance, the three waters infrastructure reform and the use of Maori names for government agencies and initiatives.
He says Labour’s current preoccupation with things that don’t matter rules out the prospect of the coalition.
“I was in Government with Helen Clark and Michael Cullen. Look at the difference – running surpluses and doing things. Since 20-20, everywhere you look, sad to say, it’s a mess,” Me Peters says.
