Luxon Māori policy for pakeha crowd

Māori Party president John Tamihere says Christopher Luxon is using brown people as a political football.
The National Party leader has unveiled his new Welfare that Works policy, which looks like the current Mana to Mahi scheme with added sanctions for people who don’t comply.
Mr Tamihere says Mr Luxon’s approach to social policy is about making decisions for Māori without Māori being in the room.
“That speech and that conference were all about an attack on vulnerable populations and poor folk and how we’re going to hammer them and manage them. That might go down well on the pakeha side of the street but if you look at all of our difficulties, all of our violence, it is internally focused. Very few if any pakeha people get caught up in but hey make out it is all about them rather than the difficulties faced in our communities by us taking out our hurt on one another,” he says.
Mr Tamihere says National has no Māori advisory group with any gravitas or substance.
